Less Kitchen Time and More Family Time with this One Pot Thanksgiving Meal

Thanksgiving is a busy day that centers on food, family, and fun. While some members of the household are spread throughout the house, often in front of the TV watching football or outside playing football, the rest of the family can be found in the kitchen.

Yes, the kitchen is the center of the home and the true MVP of Thanksgiving. Unless you live in a mansion, your kitchen can begin to get a little crowded with all of the chefs, their recipes, and opinions. Non-stick pans flying here, sweet potatoes flying there, it can get a little hectic. Everyone will be crowded in your kitchen, around the stove, and that can get frustrating.

Well, fret no more. With this simple one pot meal, you’ll be able to kick everyone out of your kitchen and kiss the stove goodbye. Whether your goal is to scale back this Thanksgiving or to just have less chefs in the kitchen, this recipe is for you. Here, we show you how to make a delicious one pot Thanksgiving dinner in your crockpot.

This recipe calls for a 15 minute prep time, 6.5 hours of cooking, and provides 6 servings. The best part of it all is that it requires very minimal ingredients!

To prepare this one pot meal for Thanksgiving, you will need the following:

  • 1/8 tsp. pepper

  • ½ tsp. crushed dried rosemary leaves

  • 1 tsp. dried parsley flakes

  • 1 10 oz. package of cut frozen green beans

  • 1 12 oz. jar of turkey gravy

  • 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour

  • 3 medium sized peeled orange sweet potatoes

  • 2 ½ lbs. bone-in turkey thighs with skin removed

Directions to prepare:

In your slow cooker, place your sweet potatoes in first and then your turkey thighs.

In a smaller, nonstick pan or bowl, mix the remainder of your ingredients, with the exception of the green beans, until they are smooth. Then pour the mixture over your turkey.

Cover your slow cooker, and cook on high for about 1 hour. Reduce the heat to low and cook for an additional 5 hours.

In about 3 hours or 2 hours before you choose to serve, stir in your green beans and cover. Continue to cook your one pot meal mixture on a low setting for the remainder of the time.

Take a slotted spoon and remove the turkey and vegetables from the slow cooker. Remove turkey meat from bones, cut into pieces, stir sauce, and place on a serving platter. All that’s left is for you to enjoy the rest of the day and the meal with those you love the most!
